Which devices support the PBS app?

The PBS Video app is available on the following streaming devices:


  • Roku
  • Apple TV
  • Amazon Fire Stick and Fire TV
  • Google Chromecast*
  • Android TV
  • Samsung TV**
  • VIZIO SmartCast TV***
  • Apple iPhone and iPad
  • Android Mobile


*Chromecast connects to the TV, but users "cast" from the app on their phones or pbs.org site on their computer.

**Our app is only available on Samsung TV models made in 2017 and newer.

***On VIZIO SmartCast TVs, the app comes pre-installed.


We do not support web browsers on Smart TVs. Users with Smart TVs must use the PBS app or may encounter issues that we will be unable to help with.


Why isn't the PBS app available on more streaming devices?


Developing an app for new devices requires staffing, time, and funding, on top of the resources required to maintain our app on existing devices. This limits the number of devices we can support at one time and how quickly we can bring the app to new devices.
